297812 2004-11-29 11:13:00 Somehow I have made the date permanently displayed on the taskbar in Windows XP.
How do I change it back to display only when I wipe the mouse over the time please.
Dave.

297813 2004-11-29 11:23:00 Its meant to show on the taskbar...If u put your mouse over it, it shows the day and date. Spacemannz (808)

The original poster has the DATE on the taskbar as opposed to the TIME.

I would suggest right click on taskbar and unlock. Click show time.

Not sure how to get rid of date other than right click date and exit.

297816 2004-11-29 23:57:00 Apparently I didn't make myself clear. I want the clock on the taskbar as it normally is. But I have both time and date showing permanently. I want to get rid of the date showing permanently. I want the date to be displayed only when I hover the mouse pointer over the time as is normal.

297817 2004-11-30 00:01:00 You were clear enough,I failed to pay close enough attention to what you wrote. metla (154)

I have seen it with the date as well as time, but I don't know how to change it sorry. Mine at home just display's time and day. ( not month as well , which I think is what you have David B)

Don't know how I fixed it, but there must be a way if I have done it before.

297820 2004-11-30 08:37:00 Try changing the appearance from Windows XP Style to Windows Classic Style, then back again. Jim B (153)
297821 2004-11-30 10:01:00 Thanks a lot folks,
Windows XP style shows time, day and date: Classic style shows time and day only.
I've fixed the problem, but don't exactly know how.
I showed/hid the taskbar several times and the display reverted to what I wanted.
It was all so simple with Windows For Workgroups 3.1. Nothing EVER went wrong.
Dave.
