i was just talkin to a mate a min a go and i was also surfin jetstreamgames.co.nz and i got this (sal.neoburn.net) so i got trusty spybot s&d out and it found nothing, but the question is, why would jetstreamgames have this sort of crap, its advertising i think and they want you to download something of that site that is said on that pop up, i was shocked to even see this from that place, what has this world come to?

298276 2004-11-30 09:48:00 It's not JSG.
It's not Spyware.

It's nothing on YOUR pc at all.

It is in fact the Messenger Service, where somebody has sent you a network message. They probably sent it to a broadcast address, which got you.

The solution is to get a personal firewall app like ZonaAlarm, or disable the messenger service. It's in services.

Cheers George

298277 2004-11-30 09:49:00 those sort of pop ups come from other sites and normally pop up at intervals , i got them alot to and the only way i seem to be able to kill them is by using a firewall and finding the file thats causing it and denying it from opening noone (22)
298278 2004-11-30 09:53:00 As George has already said this is not caused by any site,Its a service built into windows for people to send messages to everybody else on the network...it is simply being exploited by people over the net,Go into services and kill off the messenger service. metla (154)
298279 2004-11-30 09:53:00 Right click My Computer, choose Manage. Computer Management, Services and disable Messenger Service. It's a hole you can drive a truck through, no need to block it with a firewall if it's turned off. Murray P (44)
298280 2004-11-30 09:56:00 You can disable Messenger Services in the Admin Tools section > Services, or download and run this - Shoot The Messenger (grc.com).

Your ZoneAlarm should of stopped this tho?

298281 2004-11-30 10:00:00 oh, yes i do have a firewall and im surprised i got this too, ooh and thats why its says msn messanger, how can i send these messages to other people(if its legal), thanks jen for that link, and to others for the help:), i took it a bit to far :p Prescott (11)
298282 2004-12-01 03:00:00 net send [ip address/computer name] [message]

Messenger service must be enabled (it is by default). It only works on Win2K and XP.

298283 2004-12-01 23:29:00 net stop messenger

Maybe someone's spamming the realm with them?

for /L %i IN (1,1,$n) DO net send $computer $message

Where:
$n is the number of times to send the message
$computer is the netbios name ,fqdns or IP address of the target machine
#message is the message to send

so

for /L %i IN (1,1,1000) DO net send 192.168.xx.xx ****

Is generally what I send to idiots that annoy me with net send crap, 1000 messages soon shuts them up.
