298453 2004-11-30 19:29:00 You have a memory card reader. So if you get (or have) a digital camera you will be able to put the memory card that comes with it into the appropriate slot on the front of your computer and then you'll be able to view the pics on it. Each memory card type has its own drive letter in 'My Computer' and that's how you access the card when you insert it.

Firewire / IEEE1394 is for usually for connecting a digital video camera so you can transfer the video onto your PC. But there are other devices that use 1394 like the Apple ipod or external HDD's.

298457 2004-11-30 19:32:00 Well, if the floppy isnt in the case now, it was left out intentionally .

You'll have to buy one and hopefully the floppy connection is on the mobo (well should be), so u can install a floppy into the case .

Thats what the reader is for . As most PC makers now arent installing floppies . As they will be obselete sooner or later .

298458 2004-11-30 19:42:00 It looks like I was a bloody idiot to buy this THING. I don't have a digital camera and I don't want one. I don't want a video camera. I don't even have a VCR.
It seems to me that all that these "extras" do is to slow down my computer.
No Floppy. How am I supposed to flash my bios??? NO there's no provision I can find for auto bios update either.
For that matter I can't even find bios update anyway.

298459 2004-11-30 19:48:00 Another thing. I've got this thing on my task bar that tells me I can safely remove hardware. It's referring to "SB Mass Storeage"
When I uninstall it, it just comes back next time I boot.

298460 2004-11-30 19:57:00 Yup its because of the card reader .

It wont disappear by uninstalling/removing it (that safely remove hardware icon) . Unless u remove the reader from the case .

298461 2004-11-30 20:02:00 Hey guys, don't advise him to do anything that involves the motherboard . That is how all this started .

JJJJ, why don't you take it back to the shop and get them to install a floppy drive for you?
You have spent so much on this so far that a little more won't break the bank, surely .

WHAT? Get Harvey Norman to install something???

I will get a floppy installed though . If I did it myself It would probably cost me another new motherboard .
