298193 2004-11-30 07:11:00 Have a look at what I woke up to this morning!

edward.orcon.net.nz

What we think what happened was this.

There was quite bad whether about a week or so back. During this time, the cover off our spa blew off. When turned on again, the Spa light flashed "HO". It started heating again, so we thought nothing of it.
Then the switchboard started giving off a burning smell. We thought it was the washing machine and/or vaccum cleaner. So we called the respective repairmen. Then about 3:00am, supposedly there was a rather large bang. This morning somethings worked, and some didn't (The computer didn't work, however the T.V right next to it did (?).
We had to call out Meridian as well, as it blew 1 of the three lines into the house, it also stuffed one of the fuses on the street. So 2 bad things (Spa drawing too much power + faulty breakers) equal 1 disasaster (see pic!).

The whole point in this is, has anyone had anything like this before?

298201 2004-11-30 09:20:00 Why didn't the main go, why is it still on?

I'd be asking the sparky how up to date his insurance is and the builder how his is as well. Why the builder? look at NZBC E2 (www.legislation.govt.nz) and the Weathertight Homes Resolution Service Act while your at it if you are fairly sure this was caused (in part) by water ingress.
