298180 2004-11-30 06:13:00 All the power cords are plugged in correctly as they were before when it ran. Any ideas? The only thing I've changed since it ran is I reseated a stick of RAM, can't imagine why that would change anything.

Asus p4s800d-e, pentium 4 HT 3.2 ghz, 450 watt psu, win XP.

298181 2004-11-30 06:19:00 I take it u have it plugged into the right fan connection on the mobo?? If its in there. it's most probably dead the fan. I would replace it. Spacemannz (808)

298183 2004-11-30 06:40:00 Ah that solved it. It was kind of stuck, I moved it about and it started spinning. Cheers Mercenary (6268)
298184 2004-11-30 08:29:00 must be full of dust - give it a good clean out noone (22)
298185 2004-11-30 08:38:00 may be a little bit of grease as well Prescott (11)
298186 2004-11-30 09:18:00 good thing that mobos today come with rpm readings and give warinings when the fan is playing up or else you may have yourself a burnt cpu - among other things - or though you might smell the burning before then noone (22)
298187 2004-11-30 09:25:00 The PC usually locks up, warning you that something may be amiss, before you smell burning. It's happened to me before - lock up, press reset and nothing. That instantly alerted me, and lo and behold the fan was slightly stuck.

Pays to check that if you get a lockup, then nothing, then it goes after being off for an hour or so.
