| 298863 | 2004-12-01 21:36:00 | Hi Just a small problem, I am running win2000 pro, and since a friend!! used my computer, now when activating -start/shutdown or restart nothing happens the computer just keeps running. I have used the 2000 cd to try to repair the installation but that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks |

| 298864 | 2004-12-01 22:05:00 | Your PC is crashing at shutdown, alma, but like its successor, Windows XP, Win2000 is set to automatically restart when it encounters a major crash. The first thing to do is disable this ?feature? ? in Windows 2000 right-click My Computer and select Properties, then switch to the Advanced tab. Click the Startup and Recovery button, untick the Automatically reboot box and click OK, restarting when prompted. When you next come to shut down your PC you?ll receive an error message, which you can use to help you troubleshoot the problem. The best place to start is http://labmice.techtarget.com, where you?ll find a comprehensive list of Windows 2000 STOP error codes along with the link to the relevant Microsoft Knowledgebase article that will help you find a solution. HTH got it from a search "win2k shutdown" in Google. :D |
