298647 2004-12-01 08:25:00 Is this a good program? i just downloaded this file thinking that it was just a scanner that would check for spyware and delete it, but then it picks up three infected file and i have to register to get rid of them. I found the link on a f1 page (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) I am not sure where exactly.
Do you think that it just picked up these because they wanted me to buy the software? One file that was infected was a game loader. I was suprised that it was infected because it was put on the computer by the person who made my computer.

298648 2004-12-01 08:42:00 According to a shareware site, its shareware. You have to pay $39 to register it. And also according to this shareware site u cant use liveupdate in it without registering it first.

Here's some reviews from ppl who have installed it

298649 2004-12-01 09:08:00 Just use SpyBot and AdAware - nothing better and they are both free. ninja (1671)
298650 2004-12-01 17:19:00 I have recently worked on a couple of PCs which had this thing installed. Basically I came to the conclusion this piece of software is very prone to producing "false positives" and that the reason for this is to scare you into paying for it.

You would be much better off using Adaware, Spybot and Spywareblaster which are all free and do not produce false positives.

That's precisely correct - and you'd probably find that the so-called adware it's detecting are false anyway. Theres lots of scammy software like this around

From Spyware Warrior:

PC Tools Spyware Doctor:
Note the the above list is not another list of "rogue/suspect" anti-spyware applications. That I have not classified these applications as "rogue/suspect" should not be taken as an endorsement or recommendation of any kind. I always urge users to stick to the short list of anti-spyware applications that have proven tracken records for trustworthy performance.

What was the game? Some brand computers come with games that connect "home" and then offer you more games to install. They are classified as spyware, eg Wild Tangent.
