I think you would need a dedicated server for this - you usually need to use a lot of time-based active scripting, and also the option to send out emails automatically. You would also need a server capable of handling a large database for a lot of users, as this sort of thing can get very large, very quickly, and if the database always has to load from disk things can get a bit slow sometimes - these databases usually include user details, photos, comments, and must have the ability to be updated from a form in the user's browser. On another note - good on you for thinking of doing this, but I doubt you would have much success. Trademe is becoming extremely popular, and most people would rather use a large site like trademe than a small one - things get sold faster at a better price if there are more users. Bletch |
