299525 2004-12-06 00:54:00 Why not staywith what you have till the new Longhorn version comes out. Then if you are "financial" buy a new computer to go with it. Then Network the w98 to it?? Its only money!!! PJ :D :D Poppa John (284)

That's correct. Win2K was supposed to be the version that merged home (Win 95 derivatives) and business (NT) use into the one OS, this eventually happened with XP. However the plan didn't happen quick enough and MS released Win2K as a business product. AFAIK home users were globally uspset by not getting the promissed new OS so MS rushed out the Millenium Edition which had a lot of new features. But they tried to remove DOS, effectively DOS was still there but the average user couldn't access it directly. There was a work-round by replacing some ME files with those from Win98 to allow booting to DOS, though. I've never understood why so many people hated WinME, it was better than Win98SE and had many newer features than Win2K.

If you want to run WinXP or newer you will need a major upgrade to run comfortably. I would wait for Longhorn and save my money to buy a new PC when it is released. My guess is that when Longhorn is ready, the Warehouse will have Dells available for around $250 ;)

299527 2004-12-06 09:01:00 Thank's for the info I think I might stick with it (98SE) for now until I can get a new computer.
Personally I wouldn't touch a Dell computer, you can't upgrade them, so you have to buy a new computer if it get to old, and you can get a decent Upgradable computer for about the same price as a Warehouse computer.

what does AFAIK stand for, it's probably an obvious one but i cant figure it out.
