2004-12-02 23:01:00 | Hi, I'm trying to install HP all-in-one 6110 printer on an old windows 98 computer. It tells me it doesn't have enough resources to install, and won't go any further. Upgrading computer is not an option at the moment. Does anyone know of a different hp driver that will work with the 6110 printer. | Nickk (6504) | |

If you wish to use all the functions of the HP6110, then you will need the official drivers anyway. HP gives the minimum requirements of the 6100 series All-in-ones as: *Intel Pentium(R) II, Celeron, or compatible processor *64 MB RAM *300 MB available hard disk space (plus 50 MB for full-color scanning) *CD-ROM drive *800 x 600 SVGA monitor with 16-bit color *Available USB port *Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) 4 or higher If you are not sure what the specifications are of your computer, you can download Everest - Free Home Edition (www.lavalys.com) to find out this information. |

2004-12-03 21:29:00 | from a lady freind of mine who loves win98, and installs/services/ and supports comm s/w of high quality. "install an all in one printer on win98 if you never want it to work properly again" I asked "the printer or the S/W" She replied "Both of the Bas----'s" D.

2004-12-03 23:29:00 | Sorry I didn't make myself fully clear. All I want to be able to do is print, don't need to do anything else on this printer. I know from other HP printers (lasers) it is possible to use drivers for older printers - I don't know with the all-in-one printers if this can be done. Was thinking if someone else had done this then I wouldn't need to experiment and work it out. | Nickk (6504) | |
2004-12-04 00:00:00 | I think the main problem would be the need for the "full" drivers to get it to even talk to Windows 98 via USB. 98 was dodgy with USB at the best of times, so any printer driver that related to an older printer probably would not communicate? With parallel port printers it was always possible to try older drivers, but I suspect you will have a lot less success with USB. Where are the resources to low? Disc space, RAM, processor?
