| 299662 | 2004-12-04 10:51:00 | These 2 PCs are networked using a Switch and they are working fine. PC1 has a CD writer and PC2 hasn't. Both machines are running XP Home. Now, I would like to make a Ghost image of PC2 and burn it to CD. How do I go about using Norton Ghost 2003 to perform this task? Do I have to boot both machines using the Ghost boot disk or I can still run Windows XP (PC2 - with CD writer) while creating the the Ghost image? |

| 299665 | 2004-12-05 21:40:00 | Bkt, To do what you want to do you have to get the gohst boot disk to work the LAN and you have to have both machines booted with gohst and you will also need the ghost boot disk with the drivers for your CDRW. This can be done, but unless all your gear is GHOST compatible, you will need a lot of skills. Its all in the manualls on the disks, but not very clear. Tthey leave a lot out, and their tech support will be slow and vague (unless of course you are paying, then it will be long winded and confusing so that you need to go back and pay again), I have mastered cloning but have yet to get lan and cable cloning to work well. Allso if your gear is not gohst compatible, your restore cds may not work properly so check any you make beefore you rely on them. D. PS Have you been asking questions on an auction site regarding this product. |

Another issue regarding copyright of this product (Norton Ghost) - I got a copy of this Ghost and I need to install it on both the computers in order to get it working (assuming that can I get it working at the first place). 1. Is it legal to install it on 2 computers? 2. Or, I have to buy 2 copies? Cheers |

| 299668 | 2004-12-06 23:01:00 | I think installing on both computers would be reasonable, given the purpose of the software. Personally I always Ghost via boot floppy so the issue doesn't arise for me, however I do have copies of Ghost Explorer on both computers for verification of image content. That will fit on a floppy too. ]:) Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Unless you wish to manipulate images, you only need to install the application to create the boot disks then you can uninstall it quiet safely . D . |

| 299670 | 2004-12-07 03:00:00 | Thanks drb1. Somehow, Ghost doesn't recognise both of my network cards drivers. I'm using a Cnet Pro-200B in one computer and a D-Link DFE-538TX in the other. When setting up the peer-to-peer configuration, I tried to add my these 2 nic drivers, but apparently, not successfull. Cheers |

| 299671 | 2004-12-07 03:23:00 | Does your computer have 2 partitions on it? If so just make a ghost image so that the destination drive is D: or whatever you second partition is. When thats finished just boot back into windows and copy the image across to the other computer. Thats what I do anyway and it seems to work well. Hope it helps. B. |
