Neither do I, which is why I didn't switch to TelstraClear. I pay the standard monthly rental to Telecom (TelstraClear was charging the same), and have internet and tolls through another company. If I'd signed up with TelstraClear they would have charged me an extra $15 to have internet and tolls through a company other than TelstraClear. Telecom does not charge this extra fee.

300465 2004-12-10 07:18:00 I already had Paradise ADSL, so T/com were charging an extra $10 for ADSL. Changed to Telstra to up plan for the same $. We were going over our 1G limit so needed the 3G plan. wotz (335)
300466 2004-12-10 18:30:00 Mike I can not stand Telecom, I hate them .

Why? for a start off .
(Telecom) Xtra are the biggest Internet users, but when they started that 0867 rubbish, Xtra customers never got charged, very strange if anybody was/is choking the phone line with Internet use it is Xtra customer yet it was everyone else who paid (back then, about five years ago) .

I used to use the Telecom pay phones a lot, e . g . if I missed the bus I would get on the nearest phone
and ring the boss, until my card was made useless when they changed the card system in 1999-2000 OK it was only $15 or so I lost, but it is the principle, they make hundreds-million dollars profit every year on a service off phone network made from years and years of NZ tax payers money and it was given to them for next to nothing . Anyway I never brought a new card for a couple of years, Because Telecom never offered a value replacement service, I made on the deal by saving money not using the card phones . In the past year I carry a cell phone (with Vodaphone) but now again find it cheaper to use a card phone if in the right place at the right time .

While I think the "$4" late payment is a "good idea" it is over the top, with other companies you get a (smaller) discount if you pay early, but I just think $4 extra on a $47 late payment is a bloody rip off, Just over a year ago I got hit with a $4 fee because I was one day late, I rang them and said "I pay you about $500 a year, I don't get any fly by points, you can stick your phone service and have me disconnected" I was without a phone for about six months and had no trouble at all, I used someone else's phone, the only down side was I sometimes had stand in a queue, and if I wanted to go on internet during the day I had to pop off to a Internet cafe down the road, and saving about $250 on a $4 charge was not bad for me, it was a bit of a bugger for me but they missed out on the money . I got reconnected when I go a new job and can save money now . before the new job (and the introduction of the $4 late payment charge) my budget was tight, but I made sure Telecom always got paid without getting in there bad books and having them call the shots on a phone disconnection,

When there was regular posting of people bad mouthing Telecom at this web site I just found it was just so "wasteful and useless" I still would of warn a tee shirt with something like "Telecom SUX" or been in the march down Queen Street, but what is the point now? we have TelstraClear in the game and no longer a phone monopoly .

I'm happy and Telecom are missing out with me (for what it is worth) .

I don't like Telecom either . And if there was an option of another company to switch to I would . However I cannot view TelstraClear as an option right now (I wish I could) as if I switched to them I would have to fork out an extra $15 a month over what I'm paying to Telecom, and I just cannot afford that . TelstraClear are taking away the right to choose by charging us for choosing another company . It is not right and is (like Telecom) monopolistic . I can't wait for there to be a real choice in the home phone market .
