300297 2004-12-07 05:13:00 Spout, do you mean Fergie should turn the power on at the PSU then hit the PC on switch or with PSU disconnected hit the PC on switch (the latter will often discharge current from the board)? Murray P (44)
300298 2004-12-07 05:13:00 You can't buy replacement chips can yu?

300299 2004-12-07 05:18:00 >That suggests to me that this problem has been festering for some time. Have you ever flashed the BIOS, or as mentioned had any other issues, particulalry of a hardware, I/O type?

I flashed the bios a few weeks ago, but it stuffed everything up, so i went back to the original, but other than this, i hadn't done anything major, and its been doing it for asl long as i can remeber

300301 2004-12-07 05:26:00 Some PC shops have BIOS writers/flashers. If the chip is removable chances are you can get a new one, at a cost. Murray P (44)
300302 2004-12-07 06:15:00 Have you tried booting with IDE devices installed? Growly (6)

Either:

1 . Disconnect PC from power outlet ten hit power on switch on the PC

or

Remove battery and start the PC

or

Close (or is it open, long day!) CMOS pins and start the PC

Any one of these is likely to work . . . . maybe . . . . perhaps . . . .

Yes it could. In fact, it could be any of the componants that make up the PC. That's why you should remove all but the essential componants to narrow the search down:

1 stick RAM, no drives connected, video card inserted and only the keyboard connected. That way, if is still doesn't try to boot, it has to be one of these parts.
