And bandwidth. But really it would save the post signers (BillyT, MurrayP and Winnie) some keyboard typing. They could simply put "Cheers Billy {:\}" in the signature and be done with it. :D

300932 2004-12-08 03:21:00 bruce has indicated that these forums will be moved to vbulletin. I would assume that a transitional period would occur where they run both at once, the vbulletin forum privately and they'd import a snapshot of the Jive database. Vbulletin can import from most other forums, I'd assume that there is a Jive script available... Once everything appears to be cool bananas, they'd just shut down the Jive forums and open the Vbulletin ones to the public... no great drama. There may be the odd thread where someone complains because some people generally dont like change, and that's what I'd come to expect out of experience.

Alternatively they could just lock the Jive forum and keep it as a searchable reference, it would definately be a shame to start from a clean slate.

On the topic of avatars and signatures, these can be disabled or locked down, and in the more recent versions of vbulletin you should be able to personalise the option of whether to view avatars or sigs. That way if you dont want to, then dont! If you do, then do...

Just a suggestion however to Bruce and the other mods - disable image sigs. They are a horrible waste of bandwidth, and it's absolutely nasty looking at a one line post, a 15 line sig full of computer specs that nobody really cares about, and then a 1024*600 image sig

check this out:
forums.overclockers.co.nz

on ocnz we have a 4 line limit on sigs. works well for us, something similar may be useful here...
