1360933 2013-11-26 22:25:00 Aren't they being replaced as the signs wear out? If so, what's the problem? pcuser42 (130)

That was the response from the authorities. Campbell Live made an issue out of nothing it would seem. If this money was already tagged for yearly maintenance of road signs that were past their use by date, then there is no story.

Move along please, nothing to see here...

1360935 2013-11-26 22:59:00 These people don't see a problem, why would they it's your money.

I would like to see it proven that there won't be waste in the change over.

1360936 2013-11-26 23:12:00 It appears that the signs will be replaced over a ten year period with green signs. The street signs have a life of 8 - 10 years so all signs should be renewed within a ten year period anyway. This would come under normal annual maintenance and so the rate payer will not be forking out any extra dosh. It is a good idea to have all street signs the same colour and style.

What a newsworthy story.

The fact is, these people are the enemy.

1360938 2013-11-27 07:09:00 When the story originally broke a couple of weeks ago they were going to replace all the signs but they changed it to over a 10 year period. Still think "Lefty Len" and his pack of big spenders will bankrupt Auckland in the next 10 years. This week around Pt Chev there have decided to spend mega $$$$$$$$$ on putting speed humps in any side road that doesn't have a stop sign on it.. paulw (1826)
