1360778 2013-11-24 21:57:00 I think ours is broken…

We've got a fairly deep pool (around 1.9m). Holds about 45000l. A few summers ago, the top of one of the two hydrostatic valves came off - I assume is was kicked, groundwater must have been extra high at that time for it to happen I assume, although we are pretty low around here so who knows. Took a few days to realize what had happened, we were losing 5 - 10cm of water a day and finally noticed the valve top was out of place.

We put it back the best we could, but it appeared that part of it was missing. (Was a lot harder than it sounds, the water pressure was sucking down making it ver hard to position, and we don't have diving gear.) :p There were three parts - top part with a thread in it, then a rubber washer, then a plastic ring. It seemed to me that there should have been something threaded into the top part, as the other valve didn't come apart like this one did, but that must be long gone down under the pool somewhere.

We normally drain the pool each year to clean it, so last summer we positioned the valve properly when the pool only had a few feet of water in it, and weighed it down with a rock. This worked a lot better, i think we still lost a little water, but not nearly as much.

I'm going to do the same thing this year, but it would be good to get it sorted properly. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this type of thing. I can take pics/video if anyone wants to get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

1360779 2013-11-25 07:04:00 Don't know anything about Hydrostatic valves , but sounds like some pressure is involved. If you still have some leakage, it occurred to me that some plumbers tape may help, especially if the fittings are being reused and are made of plastic. That is if you haven't used any to date?
