1360042 2013-11-17 18:36:00 Hi all,

After some advice. Want to get my son a new TV for his bedroom. Needs to be able to have VGA/DVI input for his PC (PC does not have HDMI), as well as being able to hook up his PS2 (RCA connections - 2x audio, 1x video). Would also be nice to hook in his DVD/VHS (tape) player via coax (old TV aerial) - but not essential. Does anyone know of such a beast? Preferably 19-22" and not too expensive.

Cheers

1360043 2013-11-17 19:16:00 Cant say I've seen or heard of many tvs having DVI. An HDMI / DVI adapter (www.dicksmith.co.nz) MAY work.

This one (www.thewarehouse.co.nz) has HDMI x3 but has also got VGA. It has also got RCA. This is what I brought a few mths ago. And it's cheaper than when I brought it ($50 cheaper)

BUT HDMI would be better since it carries sound. You would have to have a separate audio cable with DVI or VGA. If you want sound

For that size and due to computer work quality you might be better going with a computer LCD instead, it would have DVI. If you want RCA maybe the higher ends like a Dell Ultrasharp? Might be cheaper to just get a old cheaper non Freeview tv tuner / capture card which would have video input and the audio input with the motherboard. You can use that also to run the VCR too instead of the coaxial.

1360045 2013-11-17 22:29:00 Small TVs are relatively expensive, you may find the more common 32" Size is actually as cheap or even cheaper. A PC monitor and TV tuner may work out cheaper as suggested.

I have a 27" AOC monitor that has a lot of connection options and a 24" Samsung TV that cost approximately $150 more and only has HDMI. I prefer the AOC all round except for the convenience of in built TV and the physical appearance.

1360046 2013-11-17 23:35:00 Ok. Thanks for the replies. Currently has a 19" LCD monitor on his PC, so that can stay. Seeing ATM that he only uses his TV for his PS2, an option may be an RCA to VGA adaptor (?). Don't really want to go down the road of a capture card to play his PS2 on the PC. ManUFan (7602)
