1359994 2013-11-16 21:35:00 Hi All, all of a sudden the battery is doing weird things, just overnight it doesn't keep its charge for more then 2 days as previously it would last me (on standby) for daaaaaays without charging. I am using a battery doctor app but... I don't know if I should buy a new battery now or not? Also, just now I noticed it went from 75% at 10pm to 31% at 10am! mark1978 (13845)
1359995 2013-11-16 21:53:00 You know that the iPhone was among the first smartphones to provide the feature for end-users that the battery cannot (easily) be replaced? johcar (6283)
1359996 2013-11-16 22:09:00 Yeah I have been looking at how to replace it just now johcar, the whole phone needs to come apart, not impossible... great challenge! mark1978 (13845)

1359998 2013-11-16 22:26:00 If you replace the battery make sure to get a official battery (if that is even available?) or a battery from a respectable brand as cheap batteries are cheap for a reason. icow (15313)
1359999 2013-11-16 22:29:00 Thanks for the replies guys, there is nothing running wifi off bluetooth off, thanks for the step by step guide!! And have been looking at batteries on Trade me, they are selling 1600mah and 1220mah which am not sure WHAT the difference is. Am happy to do this replacement by myself as it costs 65 here in rotorua hahahah mark1978 (13845)

cheap because there is no apple tax.

a cheap battery is better than an old battery.

also the ifixit guide linked above is amazing.

I'd recommend the same for any device. Cheaper batteries aren't worth it if they die/degrade ~6 months later.

1360002 2013-11-16 22:48:00 I agree Mirddes!! Amazing! I can do this myself no sweat! The ONLY thing now is the battery itself, some are 1600mah, some are 1220mah, and I have even read you can get 1800mah for the 3GS, am totally confused now... They are not selling 1800mah on trade me, 2 of them sell the 1600mah with one saying its not compatible with 3GS.. ha ha ha mark1978 (13845)
