I do like nice watches, but now I think they are really just more uneeded jewelery. I cant see the point of a watch if it gets trashed/scratched when Im doing my job, or I need to take it off when ever Im doing hobbies/sports etc : ie as soon as I get home.

1360107 2013-11-19 20:47:00 Been away at a stag do all weekend up the mount, some smart fella brings his ipod classic with him. 160 GB of music for 3 solid days was not obsessive. So there is definitely a place for them.

Definitely is. It's more of a "1%" thing though :p

I use my watch specifically as a time piece although I'm seeing more and more people who use their phone to check the time ( I've noticed they tend to be in their late teens or early 20's). Being that mine is water proof, means i can wear it during water sports or swimming.
For me a wearing a watch is probably habit. The only time I go without a watch is during the weekend when I don't want to know what the time is.

1360109 2013-11-19 21:04:00 I will wear a fob watch on occasion but it is very much because I like the look of it than for any practical purpose.
Although I must admit to trying to ignore my phone when I am wearing one so it actually has a purpose, and that is not easy.

1360110 2013-11-19 21:10:00 140gb is about 2/3rds of my music collection (About 2/3rds of it I own on CD).
As I listen to a variety of music, I enjoy having the ipod on shuffle, so yeah, I do need that 140gb. Saves me stuffing around swapping music off a pc

1360111 2013-11-19 23:11:00 Ive got one of those round watches that has numbers on it, one big hand & one little hand, & a tick tock hand Also has a basic calender. Really modern as I dont have to wind it. The one before this one lasted 15 years With a few new batteries along the way. PJI've had mine for 31 years, which I wear occasionaly. Batteries used to last on average about 7 years, but current battery still going strong after 10 years. It's a Seiko. Greg (193)
