| 1360496 | 2013-11-21 20:29:00 | Hi there! I am Clement from Groovy Pulse Games, an independent studio based in Montreal, Canada. We just released our first free-to-play iOS music-game Groovy Hero. I know this is a PC forum but I am sure most of you guys have an iPhone or an iPad right? ;) To the moderators: I could not find a way to send you a private message. If there is any issue with this post, please contact me. So, the game is simple yet innovative: you are a music artist performing on stage and you have to give the best show to your audience. The great innovation of Groovy Hero is that you can play with any music you have on your iOS device. Our algorithm called Pulse has been designed with music composers and sound designers to challenge your rhythm skills on your favourite songs. Pick your character, select any song you like and tap the visual elements on-the-beat to get the best score! Groovy Hero is available on iTunes Feel free to tell us what you think about the game, your suggestions are welcomed ;). Also, if you have any questions, post it here and I will answer within 24 hours. Cheers guys! Clement |

We are using a complex tool to analyse the mp3, it makes it really hard to port on Android. We wish we had a Right Click/Send to Android button somewhere :D |

| 1360502 | 2013-11-21 22:49:00 | Exactly - who uses crApple these days :) Lots of mobile app game developers who want to make money on their games.. thats who :-D Android has games but are made available for free with the hope that they will make money off various forms of advertising. Its also harder to know which version of Android to optimise your game for since there is no clear leader in the pack when it comes to device makers or OS versions. Ask yourself which version are most end users using..? The answer is not that obvious. If you want your Android game to be playable across multiple versions its going to have a lot of performance overhead. If you want better performance you need to cater for just the latest version of Android and the best hardware and then hope that lots of people will by that combo and buy your game and spend money in it. iOS doesn't have that problem. Plus iOS gamers are more likely to spend money purchasing in game add ons which makes it more viable for game devs to develop for iOS first rather than Android. When you look at it, the OS might be "free" but developers tend to expect to get paid for their time and skills at some stage whether it be on a monthly salary or by getting shares in the company they are working for. :) |

| 1360504 | 2013-11-22 00:07:00 | So Apple have just the "System For Dummies" ;) If "dummies" represent the most lucrative market segment for developers to make a profit from then yes they do. Android developers just have to scrape a living from people who would rather get everything for free. Last time I checked, giving away free stuff ain't exactly the best way to make a profit in a competitive market. Advertising in apps does pay to some degree but Google gets the biggest cut of that. |

Once upon a time this was true. But compatibility across the 4.x build range is pretty simple, and over 70% of Android devices are now running 4.x. Yes, you need to account for different hardware, but this is also true of iOS apps, where the hardware difference in terms of performance is quite large when you account for iPhone 4 through 5S, plus the various tablets. |
