They are all predative proprietry thieving greedy bastards that dont give a **** about the customer!!!! I think that once longhorn gets out, all the ho ha would have given it such a boost then people will see thats its aminor step up from the last OS, runs worse, looks a bit different and they just gave away $900 for this piece of crap... Linux better get its a into g... they are slipstreaming microsoft atm, but if they wanna pull out and hit the NOS so they can pass MS they gotta get more user freindly before/as ms realease Longhorn. Sorry for the racing lingo, i been playing teh nfsu2 :D... I for one am fully rooting for linux and when the time comes that I have nothing to do for a couple of days, suse 9.1 is going on and I'm getting every program I use on windows to work on Linux. Then I can rub it in all you MS hoobies faces... ;-) Incest is rife in MS products. Theyve just covered up old holes with new ones...	willie_M (5608)

Buy as most emotive rants are, it's wrong or an unfair label: Predative: No more than any other business that wants to make a profit. Proprietary: Dictionary.com says means "Owned by a private individual or corporation under a trademark or patent". So of course they are! Thieving: I guess we'd have to look at specific court cases to proves that one. But I do know that none of the above businesses have ever stolen from me. Greedy: Isn't that how all western business works these days? They exist only to take as big a piece of the pie as they can get away with. Take IDG, for example, my guess is that the only reason PCW costs $9.95 is that the competition costs around the same amount. If they could charge $25 I reckon they would (please don't, Bruce). Somebody earlier mentioned the cost of XP Pro being $700, I've never heard of anyone buying it, have you? Most people get it OEM or UG much, much cheaper that that. B******s: Really, all of them? Employees or shareholders? One thing to consider is that (Telecom excluded) each one of those companies oured millions or billions of $$ into R&D to give us what we have on/under our desks right now. The OEM or generic manufacturers only copy the big guys. Take IBM for example. They were the only computer manufacturer to use 100% of the shelf componants to build the first IBM PC. Every other manufacturer at that time had at least one proprietary chip. Because IBM used only off the shelf parts others were able to clone them, that's how we all have PCs in our homes now. The PC wasn't the best system, and still isn't. MS have been accused os stealing idea of Windows 95 from Apple and Commodore..... but isn't that what Linux have done too? As I said earlier, what is it that so attracts Linux lovers to a Longhorn thread? If you hate Windows so much why are you so interested? It runs better and faster than any previous offering and is dead easy for anyone to use. You, and the other Linux lovers, are turning this thread into a Windows v Linux argument. Just like the Holden v Ford arguments there will be no winner.
