301125 2004-12-09 00:40:00 Hello everyone,
I installed Windows 2003 Standard server on my server about a month back. I was previously running Windows 2000 AD Server. My stats where all working in Win2k, and i didnt have to change any settings. (Permissions ect), but now that im running Win2k3, i can't get awstats to work. It shows me as having 0 visitors for everything, and i know for a fact there's been more than 0 people. I have moved my log files out of the windows folder thinking that may be whats causing the problem, but still no luck. I have change the permissions and Stil no luck. Can anyone help me as im looking at offering advertising, but i cant say "And this month ive had 0 visitors" :P

301126 2004-12-09 01:06:00 Are the log files being updated? Graham L (2)
301127 2004-12-09 01:12:00 Yea they are (well they get bigger all the time)
Just one thing that "may" be stopping it from working, here the line for the log files from the awstats conf file.

LogFile="C:\inetpub\logs\W3SVC1\ex%YY-0%MM.log"

When i put my backuped logs from Windows 2000, awstats could read them fine. Really Confusing

301128 2004-12-09 01:23:00 You're probably logging in the wrong format. ninja (1671)
301129 2004-12-09 01:30:00 Does w2003 server produce filenames of the form "ex2004-012.log", (which is what I guess is meant by that "ex%YY-0 ... " in the configuration file)?

Check the NT event log in case something has happened, and have a look at the actual log files you are getting ... it may be messy to look at, but if it looks like the old stuff, and the filenames are right, then it might be time to start hating the Perl code. :D

301130 2004-12-09 01:34:00 I do hate perl code, the only reason i use it is because awstats is free. Ill look at the nt log soon.

301131 2004-12-09 01:36:00 I would say that the Perl code is fine; I'd suspect your log files. :D Graham L (2)
301132 2004-12-09 21:19:00 Webalizer is also free and there is a Win32 port.

Urchin.com is a great commercial solution.

WebTrends sucks.

301133 2004-12-09 22:36:00 I found the problem, Win2k3 stores it's logs in a different format (eg the name and date) than win2k, and my log was setup for win2k, so all i had to do was copy the format out of the log and put it in the awstats conf file and now it works perfectly.
