301766 2004-12-10 21:02:00 "Cannot create toolbar" is the message I get when I try to load 'quick launch' using the r click and selection from the task bar at the bottom of the window. If i try r click and 'properties' and tick the box for ql, it does not load and when I check the 'properties' again, I find the box unchecked again.

I have checked "C:\programs\Docs & Settings\app data\microsoft\ie\ql" and find all the ql shortcuts in there but the system will not load up.

301767 2004-12-10 22:42:00 Hi Gary, have you tried this, type the following commands one by one in the RUN dialog:

REGSVR32 /i SHELL32.DLL

REGSVR32 /i BROWSEUI.DLL

Restart Windows and enable the bar.

This suggestion was found by a google search for the error message.

301768 2004-12-12 20:16:00 Hi Peter

Thanks for the suggestion but although there appears to be a 'divider' on the task bar, I still get the 'cannot load' message when i try the 'toolbars'>'ql' and can't drag icons to the spot either. Doing so only forces reduced windows to open.

301772 2004-12-13 04:47:00 Try this click start then in the run box.type sfc /scannow there is a space after sfc.
This will scan your system for missing or corrupted files.
It will ask for your installation cd.
This is presuming you are running xp.

301773 2004-12-13 08:57:00 Hi Peter & Johnboy

I have done the 'sfc /scannow' and also ran the two other commands.

Each of the two other commands indicated that they had been 'loaded' and the 'scannow' command, requested the WinXP disc to be read. This was done and completed OK but still no satisfaction after each of the operations. Did I need to do anything with the SP2 disks?

301775 2004-12-13 17:43:00 Thanks johnboy

Entering "IE4UINIT.EXE" into the command line did the trick.

Cheers
