2004-12-09 23:14:00 | I would Retry in a few minutes; if problems continue, check (or ask your system administrator to check) to see if your local firewall is blocking Internet access through Port 7797. Or say what you are trying to access

2004-12-09 23:46:00 | Alright, the full story. I am trying to set up "Propell Accelerator". When I get it running it works OK but it stops me receiving incomming mail. I have to turn it off to connect with OE. HP tells me that there should be no connection between it and OE. I ran the diagnostic program and it tells me "propell" can not access the interner because it can not find port 7797 which it uses to access the internet. It suggests that my firewall may be blocking access to the port. The only fire wall I have is the one in Windows XP. With SP2. I want to find out if the port is blocked or in use, but I haven't the faintest idea of how to do it. Can someone take me by the hand and lead me in the right direction? Jack

2004-12-09 23:49:00 | There is a Firewall applet under control panel,Though i doubt it has port fowarding,You will probally be better off disabling it completely and installing a 3rd party firewall. | metla (154) | |
2004-12-10 00:10:00 | Jack, have you got Zone alarm running? I used Propel Acc and found it incompatible sometimes. simply go into ZA and allow Propel tp connect to the net

2004-12-10 00:15:00 | Don't have Zone Alarm. But I created a port on the firewall list and removed it from the blocked list. The thing seems to be working now. Jack
