301550 2004-12-11 08:18:00 I just finished installing v3.0 on my laptop. Competely simple installation over version 2, which saved all my data, including login name and password.

And for the first time it has detected my wireless device, and installed a driver for my multi function HP 6110 office jet.

So this is coming to you via my wireless LAN connection, which I could not do under v3.0. Whooppee! Now it can do everything that Windoze can do, with less hassle (networking is a breeze) and no virii!

:-) :-) :-)

301551 2004-12-11 09:00:00 would my Leaktek winfast dv2000 tv capture card be picked up on Yoper linux ? noone (22)
301552 2004-12-11 11:04:00 Depends entirely on the Chipset it uses

Ive just installed Ark Linux dockyard (20041129) tonight and its brilliant!
Nice, easy, simple, and yet has everything you could ever want (Well, not Gaim/firefox admittedly - They're only in the online repositries).

I would well recommend Ark Linux over Xandros 2.x any day.... Xandros 3 I am yet to see however :-)

301553 2004-12-11 11:22:00 I want them all!!!!!

Chill, I'm sending you an e-mail to see if there's any chance you can send me some distros :). I'll pay for the CDs (or better DVDs) if you want :).

Cheers

301555 2004-12-11 12:16:00 Hmmm

I tried to send an e-mail to your orcon address and got:
The original message was received at Sun, 12 Dec 2004 00:30:34 +1300
from smtp2.orcon.net.nz [219.88.242.60]

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<chilling_silence [a]t orcon [do]t net.nz>
(reason: 554 5.4.6 Too many hops)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
554 5.4.6 Too many hops 26 (25 max): from <g_dewar [@t] jgi [d]ot] co.nz> via localhost, to <chilling_silence [a]t orcon [do]t net.nz>

So .. um ... What the hell?

For one thing, why is the Orcon mailserver thinking its 26 hops to itself?

Got another e-mail address Chill?

Something @ dimension.net.nz?

------------

Don't worry. I will simply paste my e-mail in here:

Hey, this is "george12" from PressF1.

I was just wondering if there was any chance of you sending me some linux distros, as it seems you have a lot of them. The I am interested in are:

Ark Linux, Xandros, Yoper, Gentoo (the big CD), Slackware, Mandrake 10.1, and any others you could recommend.

Best way I think would be if you had a DVD writer to burn the ISOs onto DVDs, otherwise just CDs. As I am asking for quite a few, if you want I will gladly pay for any media used.

Look foward to hearing from you,

Cheers
George Dewar

Now, how many CDs is that? Make it CDs as I have plenty of CDs but no DVDs. I will then send that number of blank CDRs to you, and you can put it all on :). Sound good?

Cheers George

301556 2004-12-11 12:44:00 Look at my email address you tried sending it to
Then think:
Can email addresses have spaces in them?
Can they have those sorts of non-standard characters?

Then try sending again ;-)

301557 2004-12-11 12:56:00 May as well just add:
Ive got the latest Knoppix-3.7
Slackware I'll see if it fits on the DVD
Gentoo you should use: lxnay.dnsalias.org (1.4.4-edge)
Mandrake I dislike and dont have

Realistically I'd recommend you skip slackware though, stick with Ark or Gentoo, and use Knoppix as a Live Disc :-)

301558 2004-12-11 12:57:00 I am mildly confused. The e-mail address had an underscore in it. I know many people with underscores in their e-mail addresses, inlcuding myself, with no problems whatsoever.

Are you being too subtle for me? Should I try with no underscore, just chillingsilence?
