301692 2004-12-10 07:58:00 Hi team.

I anyone else on Orcon experiencing some... issues? Lately, teir DNS servers have been a bit overloaded, and many pages that I often visit, I haven't been able to.
Right now I'm leeching off the iHug DNS servers, but is anyone else having this, or does technology truly hate me (First the switchboard, then the CD writer, now this...)?

301693 2004-12-10 08:03:00 It's probably because of all the Xtra customers using Orcon's DNS servers. agent (30)

You base this on what? DNS servers do naff all traffic, it's next to impossible to overload them.

Right. Do you know what DNS servers do?

The first time you try to access a URL, for a fraction of a second your PC asks the DNS server what the IP address for www.somestupidsite.xx.xx is.

After that the DNS servers are out of the loop. I highly doubt that it's problems with the DNS servers.

You can test this by going to a command prompt and going:

ping www.thatsamestupidsite.xx.xx

If it resolves to an IP address then the DNS servers are fine.
