| 302402 | 2004-12-12 07:52:00 | Bugger. I put in a win98 boot floppy buy now I can't get it to liven up at all ..... The start button has NO effect any more. So I just wondering if this means the power supply has died? If so, was this part of the cause of the problems or something new? Thanks for helping. | straka01 (310) | ||
| 302403 | 2004-12-12 09:10:00 | No, it is more likely the motherboard :(. You see, in ATX computers, the power switch connects to the motherboard. When you press it, the motherboard turns on the PSU. If this "repair shop" left the HDD floating around in there, I would not trust them and never go there again. This is terrible practice and may well be what has damaged your PC. Take it back there and complain, try and get them to fix your PC for free. Perhaps the hard drive damaged the motherboard (bumping around in there). |

| 302405 | 2004-12-12 09:51:00 | Are you still getting the one POST beep? If you are, that's a good sign. It may not be the motherboard, if your lucky it's a mechnical problem or possibly something with one peripherals, like a dying monitor. It's worth checking all the options before declaring it dead. | Murray P (44) | ||
