Radeon 9600XT Ultra 128meg

I disagree there. I recommend going with the Geforce 5200 XT, it is a much superior card. For $250 you could get two of them, then you can run them in SLI mode. Seriously man, you should see it open up a can of whoop-ass on Doom 3!

So you get better OpenGL performance for Doom3 and have to fork out for a new mobo...

302958 2004-12-16 04:20:00 i do only have one AGP port - how do you get two noone (22)
302959 2004-12-16 04:22:00 You would have to buy a brand spanking new motherboard - don't worry about it - waste of money as your CPU probably wouldn't fit. HadO (796)

302961 2004-12-16 04:24:00 my current system is a Amd xp2800 with a gig of ram - this system as stated earlier only needs to last around a year - a year and a half until i can get a new system so im only upgrading the gfx so i can play next years games noone (22)
302962 2004-12-16 04:33:00 Obviously the 9800 will be the most powerful but it really depends on what model it is. If it's the SE model you should still go with the 9600XT but what do you have at the moment? Do you really need the upgrade?

I wouldn't bother getting an nVIDIA card unless your going for the latest gen ones (6600/6800 etc).

302964 2004-12-16 05:31:00 Sell your 9200- that should net you around $80, and buy a 9800pro for around $300-$350. If you can't afford that, maybe buy a second hand 9800pro/9700pro? Zygar (29)

Very good idea. BTW, anyone know what's wrong with PriceSpy (http://www.pricespy.co.nz).. It seems to be down? :o
