| 304465 | 2004-12-17 05:44:00 | Hi.... Im using winxp pro+sp2, and using admin account. I am experimenting how to shutdown a remote pc in the same workgroup using the shutdown command, but everytime i try it says access denied from the command prompt. Im sure i done the command right, so any1 no how to get it work?? Im NOT interested in installing any softwares to get it work by the way. just want it working in command. thanks :D |

Im NOT interested in installing any softwares to get it work by the way. just want it working in command. thanks :D I've been trying to do the same thing myself via the the shutdown command over a workgroup "shutdown -s -m \\computername" It seems that remote shutdown in winxp works over a domain not a workgroup Unless you can figure out how to setup a domain, I think your only other solution is to download and install some kind of program that can shutdown computers over a network cheers -Jacob |

| 304471 | 2004-12-17 08:24:00 | well since i downloaded Win2k Resource Kit there is a neat program called shutdown.exe I go into run and then type shutdown.exe and a lilttle box comes up and i type the computer name, and any message I wish to have display on the victum computer and then the countdown. Very handy :cool: |
