304256 2004-12-17 00:46:00 Today is the third time this week that our website hosted by XtraHost is down and unavailable . :horrified

At least on Tuesday we received an autoreply from helpdesk@xtra . co . nz but NOT yesterday and NOT today .

Also, today the telephone helpdesk access is down and we are told to "hang up and try again later" :badpc:

Is this Third World or is it that Theresa Gattung is just another arrogant Labour Lacky ? :yuck:

XtraHost borders on being a ripoff to the unwary - not only as mentioned, are there better hosts around, and less expensive, but there are other costs you'll save on - no need to pay additional for email addresses @ yourdomain, and less expensive domain name hosting.

Having said that, remember that no website host guarantees 100% reliability - a hundred hours or so offline per year is an industry standard.

Sounds like you are dialed up to another ISP and trying to use Xtra's SMTP server .

Incidentally you should start your own thread rather than hijacking someone elses .

A hundred hours, the equivalent of over 4 days continuous down time . Sounds pretty unrealisitic to me - very few hosts would get away with being that screwed for that long .

Wanna bet? The reason they can and do get away with it, is 1) Downtime for maintenance and upgrades means that the servers run reliably the other 95+ percent of the time, and 2) people don't look at their websites all day every day, so most downtime goes completely unnoticed.
