2004-12-17 04:18:00 | OK got given some games to try out, and have tried to load them on lemon under beetle admin, (lemon had a revamp) It gets nearly to the end of install (87%?) and then throws up error, ? error 50 something or rather ??? comp is now in use, so cannot retry, and get correct details but is it a install glitch or a system prob usually when it does this? system specs should be fine, as nothing else is on it but windows. im not good on this game front, and my search function skills on the new pf1 is not working at all well. Help please. Metla???? what am i doing wrong? oh for knowledge and geek understanding.....

2004-12-17 04:21:00 | Is that an Installshield error beetle? We need to be sure before we go offering fixes that may require you to delete folders and files. | Murray P (44) | |
2004-12-17 04:28:00 | hmmm.....The exact error would be good, might be an idea to write it down when it apears. If its getting to 87% before spitting the dummy i would guess its the condition of the cd itself rather then a system glitch. Its not that Rally game i gave you is it?....that CD was in a shocking state.

2004-12-17 05:52:00 | hmmm . . . . I'm not surprised Rally 2000 didn't work,It won't run on 90 percent of drives due to its age and condition . If you look at the surface of the cd it looks like its been through 3 world wars and a holiday in Iraq . As to the others . . . . . . . . Are they both on the game demo cd i gave you?

2004-12-17 06:13:00 | Oh - are you supposed to play the CD on the 'puter, not actually rally it through the rocks and scrub? I thought it was a bit underpowered and lacking traction. | R2x1 (4628) | |

I remember the good old days of Amiga when a 1GB HD was huge and a few MB of memory did wonders and it all multi-tasked better than Windows ever will. |

2004-12-18 02:16:00 | hmmm . . . . . Welcome to the world of computer gaming  As i said earlier the rally game was bound to cause greif due to the cd,I have a backup of it if you want to install it,then i would suggest the patch and the no cd exe . The game was buggy on release(the fact that they released 5 patches is proff of this if any is needed), especially with the audio, which is what some of the error msg apears to mention . . . . might be a good idea to go into the options and disable any advanced audio that maybe selected . Ill find a link to the patch and nocd for you,but if the game gave errors while installing it then it needs to be removed and installed propely . Now,As for the others,Game demo's are largely untested code and many cause greif over a wide selection of systems,If a game demo doesn't run as expected then unless your really really interested in seeing that game run then its better to just delete it . . . . Big Mother Truckers wasn't a great game by any standard . Plus the quality of the demo cd needs to be taken into consideration,They are the cheapest of the cheap, comparable to a pair of $20 Warehouse shoes . . . . . And have about the same life expetency . Other culprits maybe your cd drive, but the games i loaded on from the demo cd went on without a hitch, or your Motherboard drivers,I loaded on teh VIA drivers that were recomemded as the most stable, but they can't give that garentee on all platforms,It maybe an idea to download and install the latest via (hyperon) 4 in 1 drivers . This is of course taking the position that XP is in perfect condition,as it is,well at least it was and should be . . . . . . . . :dogeye:
