2005-01-03 11:27:00 | Ive been using KOL since 22 December. Ive used Xtra, ZFree, Paradise and Orcon before. KOL are the worst for connection speeds. KOL are cheap and they provide all the services that Flotus lists. But Ive regularly had slow mail and 3+ dialin attempts to get connected. And Ive had webpages hanging and server not found messages. Redialing in solves most slowdowns, but then youre in the 3+ dialin attempts to get connected again. By the way if you have an acct with an ISP they shouldnt mind if you connect from 2 different locations using the same acct. Just so long as you arent connecting 2 different locations at the same time Otherwise all the business types wouldnt be able to use their laptops on the road without huge time charges.....

2005-01-04 00:44:00 | What do people think of Slingshot 9.95 p/m for unlimited hours It's not $9.95 per month for unlimited hours. There are two "$9.95" plans: The first one is $9.95 unlimited if you spend more than $10 on toll calls with them. The second is $9.95 unlimited however with only 100MB data transfer, after that 100MB they charge you per MB up until a capped price of $24.90. On top of that, after 6 months (I think) they take away the free AV and spam filtering, which costs $1.50 per month per service to add back in. Their advertising is a sham.

2005-01-05 21:38:00 | Ash M, its good to get your facts straight befor giving advice to people on how to spend their money. 1) Our 0800 number is free 24/7 aswell as our tech support service. 2) We offer 7 emails per account, 7 emails for $9.95 or $6.95(off-peak) 3) We are offering 20MB homepages with all accounts. 4) We are adding more resources to the system as more users join to keep speeds up. But as how 56k goes, there is no guaranteed speed. 5) We will start to offer 'Broadband' connections in the near future at competitive rates. I suggest you learn about something befor you talk about it. Bazman, we have no policies or contracts for our customers. The only fee you will ever pay is the flat rate monthly fee of either $6.95 for off-peak or $9.95 for unlimited. I have a account with KOL and find them very helpful and good.

2005-01-05 21:58:00 | Ash M, its good to get your facts straight befor giving advice to people on how to spend their money. I suggest you learn about something befor you talk about it.If you read his post, it was a generalised (and reasonably accurate) list of the common flaws with cheap ISP's. He never stated it had anything to do specifically with your company. I hardly think coming in here bristling with attitude is going to endow people to you. 1) Our 0800 number is free 24/7 aswell as our tech support service. But your website says: Or call our help desk during business hours: So which is it? Is the number answered 24/7, or is it just free 24/7 and it stops being answered at 5pm? - Henry - KiwiOnLine Tech.Hope your employers are happy with you speaking on their behalf. If you are here responding to posts on behalf of them then you could try responding to the genuine crticisms posted here. EDIT: I see all of a sudden you have changed your post - no ninja edit for you though. Guess you are no longer representing them? SECOND EDIT: I have a account with KOL and find them very helpful and good. So now you just have an account with them? Interesting change of tune there champ -only seconds ago you were inviting people to phone and e-mail KOL to verify your identity.

2005-01-05 22:57:00 | Ninja, The number is answerred during normal business hours, but is free 24/7. I came on here because other users were being confused by what you were all discussing. I didnt come here to start anything, just clearify things. Sorry if you thought I had "attitude", I didnt intend on this. But when people browse forums such as these looking for advice and see posts reguarding a service they would like with false information, its not on. I am not speaking in reguard for KOL or any of the employees. Just wanted to clear these things up.

2005-01-05 23:48:00 | The number is answerred during normal business hours, but is free 24/7.1) Our 0800 number is free 24/7 aswell as our tech support service. So your tech support service is not 24/7. Who cares if the number will ring for free anytime, whats the point it no one is going to answer it. I am not speaking in reguard for KOL or any of the employees. Before you changed your post you signed off as a KOL Technician and invited people to call you at KOL or e-mail you to prove it. Now all of a sudden that tune has changed.

2005-01-05 23:58:00 | We dont have 24/7 Tech support yet, however we will have this soon. Yes I did, what does it matter ?

2005-01-06 01:44:00 | Yes I did, what does it matter ? You came in touting yourself as a KOL technician, obviously thought better of it so changed your post to say: I have a account with KOL and find them very helpful and good.Which is a bit underhand to essentially pose as a customer now. If you are a KOL technician your opinion is obviously going to be heavily biased at any rate, and I hardly imagine you would be dealing with their helpdesk to find them "very helpful and good" - I don't imagine "technicians" ring their own helpdesk for assistance. However I grow tired of this, pointing out the obvious gets boring.

2005-01-06 05:16:00 | Thanks Henry - I'm certainly interested in the facts although there is no doubt your customers experiences are worth listening to. However, if you get your act together it seems like it would be a good deal. | Twelvevolts (5457) | |
