305071 2004-12-18 20:18:00 isnt that nice :), its great how people can do these kind things for others that dont have broadband, mind you i still download alot of files but i tend not to download files that are over 300mb as it would take forever, and im sure you cant download 700mb overnight on dial up, well i certianly cant  Prescott (11)
305072 2004-12-18 20:34:00 no you cant download 700 meg over night on dialup.

according to my calculations, doenloading a 700mb file at 6kB/s (48 dividedby 8) will take 33.2 hours.

here is our it worked it out, subsititing f for the size of file, and s for speed in kilobits, / for divided by and * for times.

(f*1024)/(s/8)/60/60

It was only a 200mb or so download, Prescott. Should be able to do that in a night with dial-up. The usual full 700mb distro usually takes me 3-4 days on my crusty dial-up, but hey, you gotta get them somehow. It just adds to the anticipation if you have to wait ages, lol.

As for untrustworthy downloads and connections, I have one thing to say: Bittorrent rocks.

305074 2004-12-18 22:15:00 you can never download anything at 6kb constant with 56kb - its always dropping and rising i would think about 40 hours for 700megs noone (22)
