304626 2004-12-17 10:16:00 no cd cracks are very picky anything wrong ( install drive not C: , wrong version etc ) and they wont work - it can sometimes take along time to get the right one. Megagames.com is the best place for them though ( imo ) noone (22)
304627 2004-12-17 10:41:00 For some reason i cant seem to edit my intial post, anyways i had a look at the forum rules and

4) Subject Matter: Asking for, or giving advice on how to pirate software will not be tolerated. This includes posting links to sites where Warez, no-CD hacks, keygens etc can be found. And yes, this also covers advice on how to illegally gain access to a commercial service, such as Sky TV.

So forget my intial reply and just let this topic die down

cheers,

304628 2004-12-17 11:03:00 So far though, nobody has given a link to a site on No-CD Hacks.

Personally I dont mind the discussion, until a link to a site/download is given.

Best if we stick with CD-Drive Emulation though guys, lets try and keep subject matter legit here.

I'd say you're within the rules, but walking a fine line ;-)

No harm no foul

Chill.

There is absolutly no point on CD emulation, because it is just eaiser to load a real CD into a drive than it is to load a virtual CD into a Virtual drive. I no-cd crack all the games I own (that I actually bought) because it saves me time, not having to search for a cd. Infact I just cracked Medal of Honor - AA.

Tell us the game you want to crack, it is perfactly legal to carck a game if you own it yourself in the first place.

That an interesting statement though.

Can you -please- give us the basis of the statement, where it's legal in NZ to defeat the anti-copying systems that may be applied, and which will be implicit in the EULA for the software, for any purpose even though it may not be "copying" in the purest sense.

I am not trying to wind anyone up here, but you make an authoritative statement that many may rely on.

I (and probably many others) would just like to see the legal basis that you work from. I don't know of any, but would appreciate the sharing of your one?

304633 2004-12-18 00:02:00 i didnt notice that in the rule i just had a quick skim of them. thax chill for not cutting me off. so i'd better let this thread close just in case i get me or anyone else in trouble.

(Just in case I do own the game if any one thinks i am just trying to get out of buying one.)

304634 2004-12-18 02:45:00 no-CD cracks have always worked for me fine, cept some games like nfsu2 like you to have the cd in anyway... some of them require the cd but it can be imaged where as the orignal game would not like an imaged cd.

http://www.megagames.com/ has lots of reviews and news *nudge nudge wink wink*

uh... no. all the virtual drive programs i've had (Alcohol works best) re-mount the drives on boot-up. so the computer recognises my Alcohol virtual drives as standard SCSI DVD-Drives. It dosen't seem to mind there are no SCSI controllers in the system =\

also, it's not legal to crack games. the law allows you to create 1 copy for backup or archival purposes. that's all. virtual drives are legal, as you are backing up the games, and using the backups. cracking a game to play it with out a CD is not
