305975 2004-12-20 09:09:00 I got a DVD burner for my birthday. YAY

it can do both formats YAY

the disks it writes wont read in other DVD drives :-(

I have made a data disk and a DVD movie disk, both read good in my system.
the Mac in the other room wont read either, the Mac has a duel format writer too.

the moive wont play in any of our three DVD players.

the movie will play good my my system (the drive the burned it)

what might be wrong??
could the drive be faulty?
could i just be using it wrong??

burning with Nero from windows XP-pro SP2 for the data disk
burning with DVD-shrink from windows XP-pro SP2 for the movie disk.

305976 2004-12-20 09:11:00 Try different media. Metla (12)
305977 2004-12-20 09:36:00 Burn slower. Update your drive's firmware. Use DVD-R for maximum compatibility.

Lo.

305978 2004-12-20 09:44:00 Look up: Book Type I think you will find if you can configure this on your burner it will play on most players. Then again I could be off the mark. Murray P (44)
305979 2004-12-21 00:14:00 Sounds like this one. Its a pioneer dual format. I can play DVD's on this. I can also play it on the Panasonic 5cd/dvd stereo since it plays most formats, including DVD-R and DVD+R, BUT it doesnt play nice in the older Philips multizone.

The only way I can get a dvd working in the Philips, is if i burn a videocd on a normal cd not dvd, (I just haveta make it so it'll fit on a CDR), and turn off PBC on the DVD player. Then it plays it.

And umm yup there is no firmware update out for the Philips, so I just burn DVDS for the Panasonic...

305980 2004-12-21 02:40:00 Have you checked whether your older player can play dvd+/- discs, as this may be the problem.

305981 2004-12-21 03:47:00 The Mac DVD drive can read and write to the same brand of disks (DSE brand DVD-R)

will be trying diffrent disks over the next few days.

305982 2004-12-21 03:56:00 are you burning as a multi session disk?
