| 305662 | 2004-12-19 23:10:00 | I mean the free space is not contiguous; in the Windows red-white-blue chart, there are narrow (and some sizeable) white bands in among the red or blue, and red or blue bands up in the white region. If, say, I wanted to create a new partition in the "free" region, I assume I would need a sizeable piece of contiguous free space. But even in normal operation it's surely better to have the free space in as large pieces as possible, so new files inserted into that space don't become fragmented. Or am I wrong? Argus If you want create a partition in the "free space", you need to have unpartitioned spcae available not unused space. Partition Magic will allow you to shrink a partition so as to create unused or unassigned space for another partition. |
