305890 2004-12-20 02:19:00 Did u scan for spyware and viruses before u installed SP2??

I would also go to start/run and type msconfig, and tell us whats under
startup tab. I fixed a mates PC a while ago, with your exact prob. He's got ADSL.

Could connect but couldnt go anywhere. I later found out he had
a worm, which disabled the firewall, and shut everything down.

305891 2004-12-20 03:11:00 If you enter in COMMAND into the box after going start - run

Then type and enter, ping google.com

Do you get timeout, or some figures?

305893 2004-12-20 21:42:00 I suggest you do a full scan with Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D. It might also pay to tell Spybot to do a scan on the next reboot, which will allow it to remove anything that is in currently running. agent (30)
305894 2004-12-20 22:14:00 Also run a little program called Ccleaner ( www.ccleaner.com ) as well. It will clean out the flotsam from your drive, such as temp folders and Internet cache. These are now becoming areas where trojans and spyware sit, and from where they can re-infect your system. pheonix (36)
305895 2004-12-21 04:58:00 Just checked out the forum on www.ccleaner.com and there seem to be too many people having problems with it, to make it worthwhile running. katharinem (3459)
305896 2004-12-21 06:06:00 You don't say if the problem is with dial-up or Broadband.
Check the properties of the "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" and set it to "Obtain IP address automatically"

305897 2004-12-21 06:55:00 Have run it through about 40+ machines and using win98 , ME, 2K and Xp with no problems at all . Now if you look at any forum, you will find that the software has problems . With over 1 . 5 Million downloads, the forum is not jammed full of users with problems .

I can only go on my experiences, and it has removed trojans from causing re-infections while they sit happily in the Temp folder .

The only problem I can see, is if you tick the " Autocomplete form History" it removes any name/password autofills you may have . You then have to remember what they were, and manually type them in .
