| 305565 | 2004-12-19 09:15:00 | Hey guys, My thunderbird 0.9 sometimes doesn't send my email straightaway. It like does it little sending window, and either does that for ages and ages, or it pops up the enter your password box - then I enter my password, the correct one, click the remember your password tick box, yet in a few seconds it comes back! The only way to stop it is to cancel the sending and try again... and again... until you hit the lucky number and it works. I shud also mention that I dialup on quicksilver but my email is that of valuenet... and I run nortons so it scans outgoing mail. Any ideas? |

More importantly though, you can only send mail using the SMTP server of the ISP you are connected to. If you've dialed up to QuickSilver, you must use their SMTP server to send with, not ValueNets. |

You can in fact use any SMTP you like, as long as you have permission and an appropriate account set up. |

Considering that Valuenet merged with Quicksilver, there is avery possibility that you can use Quicksilvers mail servers. Am I right in thinking that you were originally with Valuenet and were then switched over to Quicksilver? but kept your Valuenet email? If that is the case, your Valuenet email account is probably just a Quicksilver email account in disguise. |

| 305573 | 2004-12-19 13:24:00 | no, i use a friends internet and an email from under my dads internet account... dailup and email settings are completely different... And valuenet merged with orcon... well they were orcon anyway pretty much... but quicksilver didnt merge with anyone afaik... |

| 305574 | 2004-12-19 13:35:00 | Sorry, please disregard my previous post. I knew that Valuenet had merged with another ISP, for some reason I said with Quicksilver instead of Orcon haha silly me. Some ISPs do limit access to their mailservers to specific Subnets, but the fact that you can send email after several attempts proves that in this situation, this is not the case |
