| 306616 | 2004-12-21 23:43:00 | This is to advise that as you get older when you have to answer questions which you have known the answer in the past it takes either imediately or five minutes or five weeks.... I think it is safe to delete temp files but am uncertain.....please tell me how temp file are created and whether it is safe to delete......THanks in anticaption...... :badpc: |

My Compuiter, right click C: > Properties > Disk Cleanup button, tick the files you want to wack in the resulting box including Temporary files and click ok to confirm. There are more thorough ways, but that should suffice, unless your getting really low on disc space. | Murray P (44) | ||
| 306618 | 2004-12-22 01:38:00 | When you do this, don't be bothered if some (usually with "Today's" date) aren't removed. :D That means that they are still in use. "Temporary" files are created by quite a lot of programmes, and they are not always deleted when they aren't needed any more. They mustn't be removed if a programme is still using them. If you are using a word processor to modify a file, the changed version is a temporary file until you have finished and "Save" the file. The temporary file is only then given the proper file name. Other programmes such as browsers might use a lot of temporary files. |

| 306619 | 2004-12-22 01:44:00 | There is a FAQ on Temp files but it has not yet been migrated over to the new forum, unfortunately. I would suggest grabbing CCleaner (www.majorgeeks.com) to use for cleaning up your temp files in one swoop. EasyCleaner is one of the other good programs that I use. |
