| 306545 | 2004-12-22 02:12:00 | These drives are software protected. Right click/properties should bring up a menu containing a "Protect" tab but the menu doesn't show this tab anymore for some reason. To date I have not been able to find the cause. i have downloaded the latest driver from Iomega and installed but to no effect. The drive is reading, ejecting, etc OK using the driver supplied by Microsoft. (but no "protect" tab). |

| 306546 | 2004-12-22 02:33:00 | This posting about Iomegaware (macarlo.com) might help. It looks as if there can be software write protection at the level of this software, rather than at the OS level. | Graham L (2) | ||

Some times P/W are also involved. Sometimes need to copy and then formatt, but before doing this ensure: that you can change permissions on the coppy's. Sometimes formatt will Fail, and leave you with a dead $25-00 disk. Proceed with caution, at own risk. D. |

The driver being used is that which is supplied by MS in the Win2K op sys. How do i change this ? Cheers, |
