| 306460 | 2004-12-21 19:10:00 | Can I disenable "Lan" in my cmos settings? I only have one comp. Is "Lan" necessary for jetstream? I am getting an ADSL modem with usb connection. Jack :help: |

| 306461 | 2004-12-21 19:23:00 | If your ADSL modem has an ethernet connection, I would use that over the USB connection. Otherwise, if you wish to disable the NIC device it is best done via the System > Hardware Manager. Go there and right click on the device and go into the properties and select disable. | Jen (38) | ||

Jack :help: There's really no point in disabling it, I don't see what you'd get out of it. Also, you might want to try using better thread titles. |

I have disabled 1394 and Lan in my bios. They have now completely disappeared everywhere. I THINK they were useing too many system resources. At least I seem to be running a lot faster without them. Now all I've got to do is get rid of the card reader. It puts four virtual disks on my computer and forces my CD drive back to H:\ aS FOR MY THREAD TITLE (I'm not shouting, just clumsy). Well you read it didn't you and I got a reply. Jack |

This means nothing to people browsing past it. Being a bit more descriptive in thread titles is more likely to attract people that know about the subject. That's why thread titles like "Can I...?" or "OMG HELP!!!!!!!!1" are not a good idea. |

Virtual drives have disappeared and windows doesn't try to find them. One more question. How do I change my cd-rom drive letter back to D:. It is still calling itself H: ? Jack |

I have no idea why though.. perhaps someone can comment? :illogical As for disabling the ports, I don't think it'll make any effect. Something must be wrong if it is. | ~sy~ (95) | ||

You may be right, but I can't go past a posting with an incomplete title without having a look. Anyway I now have everything the way I want it. No lans or firewire or card readers being discovered and no requests to find drivers. My CD-DRIVE is now D:. All I want now is my ADSL modem to arrive and I'll be happy. Jack :o |
