306445 2004-12-21 16:19:00 I have an ATI All-IN-Wonder 9600 pro video card. When I run the test that came with the card, I get an error message "Clock stability <+/- 0.2%". I have an on-board Realtek A'97 Audio card. The test recommendation is to ensure that I have the latest drivers for my audio card, which I have done. If I am still experiencing problems, they say to try a different audio card. I have tried a number of different cards to no avail. I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem and how he or she solved it. navcom (6645)
306446 2004-12-21 21:35:00 While it's a warning that synch of sound and video may not be perfect, are you saying that it actually causes a problem?

I would suspect that it's unlikely to be an issue in actual use. Perhaps the only issue is the way the test reports the stability?

306450 2004-12-21 23:26:00 Are you overclocking? Do you have "spread spectrum" enabled (look in BIOS under "Frequency/Voltage control"?

I have no idea how relevant these two things could be, but they sure have a lot to do with your clock...

306451 2005-01-01 19:36:00 I have spent most of Christmas looking at this problem. I am guessing it relates to XP SP2 or some other MS update.

I solved it by de-installing everthing from ATI and loading the newest (MM9.0.3 etc). I did try the latest sound driver but that made things worse so stick to the ATI stuff. Follow the installation instructions , the only difference is I used Media player 10.

I am now seeing my videos's in black and white, something to do with macrovision I assume, but the sound does not go all crackly after 30 seconds watching.

Not sure of your exact setup but I had to set the sound input to AUX to get the video recorder to record sound. I have now recorded a DIVX movie with sound which I am very happy about.

306452 2005-01-02 13:54:00 Worked out the colour as well. Just needed to adust the uhf frequency at the back of the video recorder a little bit.

Copy protected video's still look rubbish though.

306453 2005-01-05 08:57:00 Peter,

Please explain what is MM9.0.3? What exactly did you have to do to correct the problem?

Thanks!

The first time I tried it it didn't work but then I read the instructions properly and followed them closely and then it worked. Uninstalling all the old stuff seemed to be important.

I did have the problem come back but I found after doing a full hard reboot of the machine it went away again. The previous night I had been able to record over 3 hours of TV without any sound problems. It may be because I use the suspend mode rather than completely rebooting the machine usually.
