306480 2004-12-22 21:54:00 I would assume that the cd was spinning as fast as the drive was capable of running, and that the monitering aspect was having a wild guess.

I ran Nero speedtest on the drive and it reported the maximum speed the drive would write at without errors was 16x,after that nero automaticly restricted burn speed to 16x.

Which was fine by me as thats the maximum i generally burn at anyhow.

306481 2004-12-23 06:36:00 Nero sucks.... It lies to much....

Time it and you'll find out. Or download the registry patch that makes it display the speed its _really_ burning at.

You'll find it lies!

306483 2004-12-23 07:59:00 It never burns as fast as it says it does....

I tried burning a DVD on an underpowered PC, took me 32 mins which is 2x when it said it was burning at 4x. The meter got to 100% approx. half-way thru

Similar results with CD's, but its been so long since I used Doze for that sorta thing that I cant give any examples off-hand.

306484 2004-12-23 08:05:00 ?_?

my version of nero tells the (what i'm thinking) truth. it says burning at 40x, and that's what sony limited the drive to @_@ (What's the point in spending extra $$$ on a limited drive?)

I know it says 48X, however in Nero I was miraculously able to get it to burn at 52X, and not just say that - I timed it against my 52X burner, took 1 second LESS time (spin up etc).

Benchmarked it, and as would be expected for 52X, 52X at end of disc, around 32 in the middle and around 26 at the start.

Cheers
