306431 2004-12-22 17:39:00 Apart from that problem, since I stopped using Internet explorer I have had no problem and that used to be once a week, even when there was no noise on the phone line .

It's bit of a bugger now I like using or prefer to use Internet explorer to view HTML documents, but have gone to Mozilla or firefox for internet browsing, so it is hard to make one the default browser,

Internet explorer is better for Internet browsing because you don't get "text-eye whiplash" . so much .

Have you checked your IE dialler options for any disconnect if idle for x minute settings . Some ISPs will drop the connection if they are busy and you have wandered off and your connection is idle .

What is "text-eye whiplash"?

306432 2004-12-22 17:42:00 maxpower how did you edit?

I tried to do it to my first post this morning and could not find the "edit" button, so I copied some of the text and added my correction . I saw it the other day on posting, but now it has gone away .

306433 2004-12-22 21:00:00 I think you're right, the button seems to have vanished!

It was there a few hours ago though.

Although when you do edit, you have to wait 15 minutes for some reason.

306434 2004-12-22 21:14:00 What is "text-eye whiplash"?

"Text-eye whiplash" is when a website does not specify the sizes of the images on a webpage and the browser has to wait until the graphics are loaded before it can allocate the correct size space for them. The text is usually loaded first with the space allocated for images rather small as the browser is loading the details but when it gets to the large image the surrounding text "whips away" to make room for it causing the "text-eye whiplash".

Including the image height, width and alt definitions within the img src tags prevents this from happening but there are too many lazy webpage creators who don't bother.
