| 306436 | 2004-12-21 19:02:00 | My computer has suddenly discovered a "1394" connection. Can someone tell me what this is? Can I get rid of it? I have firewire , blue something, card readers and god knows what else on this comp and I'm sure they are taking up power and reducing speed. If I disable or uninstall them windows just "Finds" them the next time I boot. Looks like the only solution is to get inside with a screwdriver. :badpc: Jack |

Your machine should of been manufactured with a suitable PSU wattage to sufficiently supply all the devices in your machine. They won't "slow" down your machine. :) |

| 306440 | 2004-12-21 20:28:00 | To me, it sounds like you have onboard firewire on your mobo and the previously disabled bios setting has recently been enabled somehow, causing the OS to suddenly 'discover' it has firewire. You are trying to tweak and change things which you think improves the system but can really makes things worse if wrongly done. I'm sure there will be no harm in missing out on all those little performance increases you're trying to get. You're really sounding like a Mad Scientist ... |

You may be right, but I am/was sick and tired of windows finding things and wanting to install drivers. And my CD at drive H.
