307270 2004-12-25 00:20:00 Hi Team

My children have received email Christnas cards from relatives overseas but the Macromedia Flash animations will not run .

Computer is a PIII 550 running IE6 and the latest Flash updates has been installed . All permissions look OK to me but I can't get it to work . Sound and animations for other items run fine and I was unaware of the Flash problem until today .

The same cards will run on old faithful (my P166 W98 box) but far too slow (and without sound for some reason, probably the slow speed) .

I've Googled in vain, and since the rellies will ring sometime over the weekend and are bound to ask how we liked the cards I am desparate to get it going . I am currently looking for the installation itself so that I can uninstall it and start again, but it is not in the Add/remove programs list and so far no luck finding it anywhere else .

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome . :help:

Cheers

307271 2004-12-25 00:35:00 well you could always try firefox?? good time to test it out aye you will need to re-download the flash plug in but it'll be worth it all if it works out :) Codex (3761)
307272 2004-12-25 00:41:00 Do you think it is a browser issue? I have just done a search of my HDD and can't seem to see any signs of a Macromedia Flash installation. Mind you, I don't know what I am looking for exactly.

There certainly seems to be nothing identifiable in Program files, and a drive search for Flash or Macromedia turned up zilch. Surely Flash advertises its presence somewhere in the start menu is other accessible location? :illogical

307277 2004-12-25 03:02:00 Yes to the restart, and I have already downloaded and installed the latest version.

I'll keep you posted on progress.

307278 2004-12-25 04:18:00 Ooookay . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I've run through the full reinstallation process yet again, direct from the macromedia site, and rebooted as well .

I don't seem to see a movie after installation as they suggest, just a green box with writing but there is some minor animation as it loads . However, I get absolutely nothing but a blank white box when I try to run the test page provided in this thread .

I'm completely baffled at present, so can anybody tell me please the file name of the exe (or other executable suffix) for Flash and where the installation files are usually saved on the hard drive and I'll check to see if they are present .

All this for some Christmas cards :groan:

Cheers

307279 2004-12-25 04:23:00 Tell you what. If you can download them (IE into My Documents), then I can zip up the Flash viewer that came with Flash MX and send it to you :) Edward (31)
