| 307004 | 2004-12-23 23:45:00 | Hello All. Another problem with AVG and e-mail I have come across is this. When a message is composed offline in OE and the Send button clicked it should normally go into the Outbox ready to send when next online. When I do this now, AVG grabs it to scan , sends it to 127.0.0.1 and it is plonked it into the Sent Items folder. Consequently the message is never sent. This completely contravenes the ability to compose multiple messages, post them into the Outbox, then go online to send them. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to overcome this problem? | 307006 | 2004-12-24 01:43:00 | Yes you can, I am not in front of the PC with it on, but as far as I can recall.. Highlight the email "square" Click on the Properties button at the bottom. Then on the window that pops up, click on configuration. There should be a box to untick concerning outgoing mail there somewhere. |

| 307008 | 2004-12-24 05:29:00 | Hi JonB, I manually configured AVG 7 EMS using the instructions in a document called avg_ems_install_en_70_7.pdf which can be downloaded from the Grisoft Documentation web page. Offline mail preparation works as normal for me, mail goes to the outbox untill I go online and press send/receive and is certified on the way out and again on the way in. No problems so far. Bye But what if you get infected and then the virus gets into your address book to re-send itself then it would be a helpful thing ( to others) to have your outgoing mail checked too. :confused: |

This allows the worm to completely bypass your email client and send out infected messages to the mail server without any trace of it doing so in the background (if you don't have a current AV definition database for that worm/virus that is). So it does not matter whether your AV software scans outgoing emails, if you are infected your AV should of detected the virus/worm as soon as it hit your machine before it gets a chance to spread via its own emails. |
