306979 2004-12-23 19:51:00 Hi

I was wondering if there was a way to change the volume control's default settings . I am having problems with mine . When I start up windows (ME) the wave tab is at maximum . However when I open a song, it drops to the minimum level . I then change it back to max, so I can hear the song, but when the next song starts, it drops back to min .

Is there anyway of resolving this?

Thanks

306981 2004-12-24 06:46:00 Thanks man, I think that could be the problem . Now the bigger problem is Microsoft charge for that 100kb file to fix an error with their damn program .

So if anybody is running windows ME, and can email me a copy of the Wdmaud . sys file it'd be much appreciated . Just search for it and it will come up . Right click to find version, I currently have version 4 . 90 . 0 . 3000 and the latest one is 4 . 90 . 0 . 3003 . But yea if you could please email me a copy regardless of version and I'll try to replace it .

Cheers

306982 2004-12-24 09:25:00 Are you sure that MS will charge you? This is what they say on the website:
In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. You have a specific problem that the update will fix. Have you tried the email support request? Details here (support.microsoft.com)

306983 2004-12-24 09:34:00 I rang MS a couple of years ago about I can't remember what. I had to set up a helpdesk account over the phone, they would then allow 3 free help topics before charging. i don't know if that's changed. Anyway, why use MS instead of F1. There's some clever buggers out there.
