306985 2004-12-23 19:37:00 Hey,

I'm running an FC2 system, with no X installed. When I login as root and shut the system down - with the command "shutdown now", it begins the shutdown procedure fine.

But after it has sent processes the TERM signal, it just goes to a prompt that looks 'something' like

sh-b2.05:

And waits for me to type....

Any ideas?

306986 2004-12-23 20:06:00 have you tried shutdown -h now ? ILikeLinux (1669)
306987 2004-12-23 23:50:00 I tend to use 'halt' and 'reboot' because they don't need any command line args. bmason (508)
306988 2004-12-24 01:00:00 The strange prompt you are getting is from a minimum single-user (no password root level) session. It's intended for repairing the system. You could type halt to that prompt but it's quicker to do it from your normal running mode. :) Graham L (2)
