306726 2004-12-22 05:35:00 For a new 8 - 20 GB HD fitted to an HP Pavillion (older box) and
loaded with WIN98 (have the CD).

It's for an older lady who uses it for a bit of word processing, email
and a few older small games.

I worked on it today but her current HD is failing badly and I don't
have the time to do it myself.

Cheers

306728 2004-12-22 05:53:00 Get real, no point paying $110 for a 20GB HDD when you can get an 80GB for about $90!

I'd say you're looking maybe $35<->$50 for the HDD installation and reloading windows.

If the machine is old anyway, and she doesn't require a large hard drive, you could always consider a smaller 2nd hand hard drive off trademe to save a few dollars.

306732 2004-12-22 06:35:00 Skinner- if shes on the North Shore, I'd be happy to help her out if she wants. I could probably get her a 80gb plus a bit for myself and a 'few' cartons of beer for you if you've told her it'll cost $200.

If not on North Shore, I'm sure there'll be plenty of people who could do it. PM me if you like.

Jen,

I have a pile of used drives . 850 to 80 gb . at least 30 pieces .

Id only reccomed 4 of them, to anyone I even talk to, 3 off which I brought new, and 1 which is a maxtor 20g may 2002 manufacture, slim model tests and runs well .

Have you managed to have good sucess with T/M drives??
